EVERY NINETY SIX MINUTES A TEENAGER IN AMERICA DIES BY SUICIDE

Meet Matthew

Matthew Cabral was a happy, energetic, fun-loving young boy that was full of life and love – for his family and his friends.  He also loved sports and always played to win, loved to travel and explore new places and experience new culture. What people remembered most about Matthew was, he was always smiling.  But smiles sometimes hide the struggles we battle within our own hearts.

In December 2020 Matthew chose to leave this life for reasons we will never understand. But we do understand this, that to honor Matthew’s living we must do everything we can to stop other families from suffering this kind of loss. Clinical depression is not always easy to see, nor easy to deal with.

The Cabral family founded Matthew “Smiles” to help other families find the help they need to recognize and deal with the issue of depression.  It is our sincere hope that you and your loved ones find the help you need through this foundation.

And to you dear Matthew, keep smiling. Your smile will forever shine in our hearts.

Communicate With Your Teenager

  • Encourage professional counseling

Contribute

Consider making a one time or recurring gift to help Matthew-Smiles raise awareness, support suicide prevention programs, and change lives.

Investing in the lives of our youth pays great returns.  However the return is not something you can put in the bank, it is of far greater value.
